Throwing Ace

Class

While many rogues prefer tried-and-true weapons like rapiers and crossbows, some have found that, in the hands of an expert, anything—even mundane playing cards—can be a deadly weapon. With enough time and training, such rogues find they can take this talent to supernatural heights, allowing them to snatch success from the jaws of defeat.

Level 3Bonus Expertise

When you choose this archetype at 3rd level, you gain proficiency with Deception and Sleight of Hand, and you gain an expertise die with those skills, as well as with the playing cards gaming set. For you, expertise dice in Deception, Sleight of Hand, and the playing cards gaming set can be upgraded from d8 to d10, exceeding the usual limit on expertise dice.

Level 3Fast Hands

Beginning at 3rd level, you can use your Cunning Action to make a Sleight of Hand check, use thieves’ tools, use an item, or imbibe a potion. In addition, you gain proficiency with improvised weapons and can wield any Tiny object (such as playing cards, knives, game pieces, and the like) as though it were a weapon with the Thrown (30/60) quality.

Level 3Roguish Maneuvers

Also at 3rd level, you gain proficiency in your choice of the Biting Zephyr or the Mist and Shade combat tradition and one maneuver from the chosen tradition, up to the highest degree you can learn. If you are already proficient with the chosen tradition, you instead learn two maneuvers from it.
